  • Description

Hi, we're Matt and Jo, a married couple from England and we have sold our house and given up our jobs to become permanent 'work-awayers'. We've now been travelling and volunteering for many hosts since summer 2013.

Matt is a qualified Land Surveyor and wanted a change from living in a city and from the job he had done for years. Jo was an institutional fundraiser for a wildlife conservation charity.

After spending 12 months in 2011 travelling around the world, we realised we loved immersing ourselves in new cultures, learning about different histories, languages, traditions and food as well as seeing new things and gaining new experiences. Upon returning, we decided to continue the travelling lifestyle and fully enjoy our time here on earth, whilst using our skills and knowledge to help others.

We love being out in nature and enjoy watching, and photographing, wildlife and plants especially at nature reserves and National Parks around the world.
We are very environmentally aware and try to do as much as we can to protect the planet and maintain as much green space for nature as possible.
We enjoy listening to a huge variety of music and attend gigs, concerts and festivals whenever possible. We also enjoy watching a variety of live sports especially cricket and darts.
We both enjoy reading, from old classics to more current novels, watching films and comedy (movies, tv and stand-up)
We enjoy visiting interesting pubs and bars to have a pint of craft beer or cider.
Jo loves crafts, painting and making things (knitting, crochet, needlecraft, etc). She makes anything from flowers and cats to scarves and jumpers in any array of colours and wools.

We work really well together and are able to work through things logically, pro-actively, calmly and sometimes with the help of a Youtube video!
