Description
Hello everyone! 👋
We are a small team in southern Germany, in the Schwarzwald (Black Forest) area, near the Swiss border.
We are a Buddhist center that combines meditation with organic farming and animals.
We offer hospitality for groups who come here on vacation, organise meditation retreats, yoga classes, cultural events, grow fruit and vegetables, and care for our animals.
Because this is a relatively new project, we are still in the process of structuring our activities more efficiently while also striving to grow our community.
The community currently consists of three people who live on site (Julika, Oliver, and Herbert) and several others who support the project without living directly with us.
We love the company and contact with people and animals. That's why the underlying idea at the core of our project is to unite people, in word or silence, in doing or being.
In our free time, we enjoy playing music and singing, watching movies and anime, discussing history, philosophy, and politics, studying and practicing different languages, playing board games, walking with the animals, and taking saunas and hot tubs outdoors in the evenings.
The Black Forest area offers wonderful walks in nature (in the valleys, by the lake, or in the mountains) and picturesque villages with traditional architecture.
For those interested in cities, Freiburg im Breisgau, Zurich, and Basel are an hour's drive from us, while Colmar and Strasbourg are an hour and a half away.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We love company and connecting with people from all over the world. In our free time we like to play games together, music (guitar, piano, ukulele, singing), paint, read stories, tell jokes, meditate, yoga, cook together, watch a good movie and we love interesting conversations. Oliver and Julika speak a all together 10 languages , ranging from Tibetan and Japanese to Spanish and Arabic. We believe that you will surely feel welcome! Their wide range of cultural encounters offer a space for intercultural exchange through cooking, conversation, music, movies etc.
We also host weekly meditations if you are interested in that. You can freely participate in all the activities of the center.
Julika is a mindfulness and yoga teacher and loves to practice together.
(Be sure to bring your 🧘♀️ yoga mat!)
Help
As we are in the process of expanding further the project we are looking for support with the daily tasks. In more detail: these consist in tending to our animals, planting seedlings, hay making, caring for the garden and the veggies, cleaning the garden, cutting wood, cooking for the community, website and social media care for our personal profiles. We also have a guest area, but you will not be involved with anything around that. The guest area is a separate project from the work away tasks, and we have a few stable employees tending to that.
Your tasks vary depending on the period of the year. However, the general outline always stays the same.
We will always introduce you to the tasks at hand and if
you have any pre-existing skills in the aforementioned areas, you are very welcome to bring in your Knowledge. We often work as a team, and sometimes we divide the duties among us.
We love to learn and grow together, hearing From your experience, and sharing ours with you.
Cultivating human connections in tune with nature are a deep core value of ours.

We speak three languages at home (English, German, and Italian), and we're interested in practicing Spanish, French, Japanese, Arabic and Finnish. We can teach German, Italian, English and Tibetan.
Accommodation
Depending on the times of the year we have different accommodations available: rooms in the house, a yurt, and tent. When there is place in the house you can always chose between staying in the house or in the yurt 🛖 /tent.
For the meals: we will mostly share a small kitchen in the house. Breakfast will be a go with the flow moment (sometimes together and sometimes everyone on their own based on rhythm and need.)
Lunch and dinner will be mostly together. One of us will cook and maybe if you like to cook, we can take turns.
A little more information

Internet access

Limited internet access

We have pets

We are smokers

Can host families

Can host digital nomads
The internet connection is mostly stable and available almost everywhere around the house, even in the yurt or tent. However, the connection may not always be 100% optimal in the yurt. In that case, you might choose to work in the garden, where we have tables and a good connection. It's important to know that we turn off internet in the evening before going to bed, although this rule is not so strict and we often make exceptions.

Space for parking camper vans
We have a large parking lot near the fields. You can park your camper or caravan there. There is no internet connection though, and the shared bathrooms are a few meters away.

Can possibly accept pets
Generally, all pets are welcome, as long as they don't have predatory or aggressive tendencies. However, we can't guarantee that if you have a dog you can always let it roam freely around the house as we have to first make sure that it's going to be safe for our little animals.

I'm Japanese, but I can't speak English. But the whole family treated me kindly.
It was my first workaway, but it was really fun. He also taught me farm work carefully, so it was very easy to understand.
Thank you for the fun time of two weeks.😆
